MINDFULNESS MONDAY:
Today we are looking at a sunshine meditation.
Just as plants feed on the energy of sunlight, we absorb benefits from sunlight.
A suggestion for the week:
Weather permitting, for today’s meditation, try to practice outdoors or near a window in the sunlight.
• Come to a comfortable seat in the sunlight and set a timer for at least 5 minutes.
• Rest your hands with your palms facing up as if they were solar panels able to absorb energy from the sun.
• Close your eyes and bring your awareness to the breath.
• Envision sunlight being absorbed through your skin, especially through your hands.
• Observe the sensation of the warmth of the sun, the cool, breeze and anything else that comes up.
• Visualize an energetic root system reaching from your body down into the ground.
• When the mind wanders, bring it back to the visualization and the experience of the breath.
